Accommodation

Apartment in Cadiz(2 nights)

Right in the middle of this fascinating little fishing village, this apartment is in an old but charming building. Ideal location to stroll around to the historical centre and beach.

Places to visit

Cadiz cathedral – Located in Plaza de la Cathedral, this Baroque style cathedral is a must visit. Beautiful architecture and the crypt is amazing. Great view of the village from the tower although it is a bit of climb. 5.00€ p/p.

Mercado Central de Cadiz – Impressive architecture of the mercado itself.
A variety of stalls for fresh seafood, pickle olives, pastries and for lunch.

Torre Tavira – 360 view of Cadiz – 7.00€ p/p.

Mirador entre Catedrales – Nice open space to chill out and enjoy the beautiful views of the Atlantic along the coastal promenade.

Stroll along the promenade to Castillo de Santa Catalina with stopover at the beach for nice dip to cool down. Nice walk, to the sound of a group practicing their drum skills, to Castillo de San Sebastian along the access P. Fernando Quinones.

Castillo de San Sebastian – Closed for work when we were there.

Castillo de Santa Catalina – Good photo opportunities of the fishing boats doting the shallow blue waters while walking along the walls of the fortress. Free admission

Plaza Espana

Genoves Park Botanical Garden – Lush oasis to walk through.

Eat

El Freidor del Mercado – Calle Libertad, Mercado central de Cadiz
Located in the mercado Central Cadiz. We still talk about the delicious seafood fresh from the sea – tortilla de camarones, gambas, croquetas, potato salad. 20.00€ for 2 including beer.

For the rest of our stay, we were just grabbing food on the go or stopping at a local tapas – unfortunately I don’t remember the places. All I can say, it was good and affordable.

Shopping

Cork O’Clock – Calle Compañía, 19, 11005 Cádiz

The girl attending the shop is very nice and helpful. We had some pretty good deals on cork products.
